Do you remember the hymn, “Old Rugged Cross”? When I was a young girl, we usually sang that hymn at Easter.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I heard this hymn countless times and never really knew in total what it meant. I sang it and I knew it was about Jesus and the cross that He carried, was nailed to, and eventually died on. I knew that on the third day he rose from the dead. I knew about the cruel events leading up to His death. But as a child or even as I grew into adulthood, I never actually understood what actually happened at the cross. I did not understand the VICTORY I have today because of the CROSS.

One Sunday, over 25 years ago, I gave my life to the Lord. I was told how much God loved me and that He gave His Son for my sins. Christ loved me so much that He died on the cross for my sins. But no one told me the importance of what Jesus accomplished by His death on the cross. No one told me about the POWER of the CROSS!

Even after I was saved, I had heard the story of the crucifixion and although I knew it took place, I did not fully comprehend the POWER of what happened on that day more than 2000 years ago

You see, I was trying to UNDERSTAND the cross with my MIND.

God wanted from me was to EXPERIENCE the cross with my HEART.

When I experienced the cross with my heart, I was set free from all those things that had me bound, all the battles that were going on inside my mind. I experienced deliverance and a freedom that even to this day I can’t explain.

If you’ve never done so in the past, experience the power of the cross. Do more than “know” the Easter story. Do more than watch the movie The Greatest Story Ever Told. Develop an intimate relationship with God. Know God and the power of His righteousness. When you experience the power of the cross; love, freedom and deliverance are yours. God’s desire is not that you understand every detail, but you experience His love!

He wants the chains that have us bound in certain areas of our life to be broken. We can live in the freedom and victory that Christ so willingly gave His life for.

When you experience the power of the cross, you will have a freedom that others will not understand (click to tweet). Operating in victory will be a way of life for you. You no longer operate as if you are always in a continuous spiritual battle. You recognize that the ultimate battle was won at the cross.” (Excerpt from the book The Ministry Within by Dr. Saundra Wall Williams)

Understanding and experiencing the POWER of the CROSS has transformed me in ways that would take volumes of writings for me to explain! What has been your Power of the Cross experience?

Remember . . .  Isaiah 53:5
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

Have a wonderful RESURRECTION Day!
